Hello All,

new to the forum here! i just got my first Sulcata, the only tort's i've had in the past were russian. I did a lot of reading before i made the choice to get one of these guys, even tho the temptation at pet stores was horrible! they are so cute . Anyway i finally decided and went to a breeder, verses a petstore. He's terribly cute and we named him Purr. My Husband is going to build a Tortiose Table for him, we got a number of designs off the web, but for now he is in a 20 gallon long tank, the table will be ready within a week.. i've heard from several pages that tanks are no good for them. My Question comes from Diet, every page i read said something different.. i finally decided on one of 75-80% grass hay, we are using bermuda as it's the only stuff i can find out here. We also planted several tubs of bermuda grass to grow in the house this morning. The rest of the diet is some dark greens, a little bit of carrot, and some of the other edible plants. The thing is the breeder we got him from had their hatchlings on a pretty bad (from what i've read) diet of dark greens, carrot, squash, and fruit.. we only just got him yesterday so i am not going into a panic yet, but he doesn't seem to have ate anything since we got him home. I've added more greens to the mix and soaked the grass hay in water, do you think he'll come around to a more healthy diet soon? i am soaking him twice a day to keep him from getting to dry..
would appreciate all information!

I feed my sulcata's a all natural diet of 100% grasses with vitamin cal. once a week, i have several different grasses and weeds i feed them, i am raising two normal baby sulcata's and two "fake" ivory sulcata's (pics next week) and the two i have been raising for a few months have zero pyrmainding, my 100% natural grass diet seems to work
