is it just me?

xblackheart Mar 15, 2009 02:16 PM

Or has this forum died down quite a bit in the last year or so?
Its not just during breeding season when everyone is busy, or during brumation when all the snakes are sleeping and there is nothing to talk about. It seems kinda slow, IMO.

just a thought. Has anyone else noticed, or is it just me?

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

The economy is effecting everything.
people are just too occupied with trying to get by.
Let's hope things begin to look up.

I think it's just everyday life taking up time and not many hatchlings popping out yet. I know I am lucky if I get to check the forums every other day. Also keep in mind that a large percentage of the posts are generated by either people showing off new animals/hatchlings or by people asking questions because they are new to the hobby/species. Having less disposable income reduces most of those and the time of year reduces the other one. But it will come back as babies start poppoing out and people get less financially strapped.

On a plus note I have a litter/clutch(never sure on the term) of Brazilian Rainbow Boa's that should be dropping sometime soon.

I would just be happy if my snakes new what to do when I put them together. A whole lot of mating behavior, no mating. I am failing at breeding before ever starting so I don't have a lot to talk about.

You may be getting mating without seeing it.

My rainbow boa's were going at it for a week or two before I actually "caught" them and that was only because I pulled out the moss box hide to get them out for feeding and when I pulled the top off there they were in the middle of a impromptu snake porno.

Have you seen any hemipenile sheds? That was the first confirmation of any sort that I saw. I found a couple of Hemipenile sheds in the water dish the 2 to 3 weeks before I caught them in the act. With snakes that spend less time soaking you may not notice the sheds since they will be smeared/dried on the substrate unless they come off in the water.
