I rescued a leo last tuesday, shes doing a lot better now but she had a lot of dead skin stuck to her toes when i brought her home. ive been soaking her everyday like my vet told me to and well one of her toes fell off today. my vet said this might happen but is there anything else i can do for her?

Soak the toes in 3% hydrogen peroxide...........it helps remove stubborn skin, and is a disinfectant too.

Also, provide a humid hide in the future for sheds.......so you don't repeat the previous owner's mistakes.

I have a humid hide, i was just wondering if anyone knew anything that could save her toes? if each toe that has dead skin on it is going to fall off shes going to be missing quite a few toes thanks again one other question should she have humidity throughout her whole tank of just in the humid hide and if so what should the humidity level be at?

There is a reptile protect that you can find in the reptile section of your store that sells reptile protects, that helps to get shed off. I can't find my bottle of it to give you the exact name, but it will say right on it that it helps with shed.

Just put the moist hide in the warm end of the tank, and it will be the right humidity inside.

I've had this problem before with a few I have rescue'd myself. First of all, to save the remaining toes that are in jeopardy of being lost, I would get a Qtip with some warm water and a diluted mixture of peroxide and warm water as well. Set aside some time to get your gecko nice and calm. (once they get to that trance state of laying on your arm or something) Carefully rub the Qtip on the unshed skin with a motion in the direction to the tip of the toe. You'll notice that the unshed skin will roll up as it works it's way down the toes. With some tedious coaxing, you should be able to give those toes a second chance.

As for the hide. I always offer a cool side hide and a warm side hide. This will allow your gecko to pick the right one for their needs. I simply give my hides a quick mist from a water bottle as needed. Proper attention and husbandry will always be your best bet. Good luck to your little guy/girl.
