Back 40 find

Well for those of you that don't know I am constructing a little rain forest get away on the back 40. Ok ok its not really 40 but its mine and i call it my back 40. Anyway I was out cutting some weeds down the other day and here is my find. This is why I love my new property, this is a very common sight.

I wouldn't imagine. It was found in the foot hills about an hour south of Sacramento.

I see, then it must be a Mountain Garter (T. elegans).

Thats funny,I refer to part of my home made jungle "the back 40" also.I found a Scarlet King there last week.Mocks are more common.and cornsnakes and garters too.They live around this pond,and others in this type of habatat.Vic
