Egg eaters?

Shadowwolf Mar 18, 2009 12:40 AM

Kingsnakes apparently will eat eggs of birds in the wild, but I have not seen or heard of any information about this behavior in captivity. If offered the eggs of say, doves, finches, parakeets, etc, will kingsnakes know what to do with them Or will they turn up their nose and wait for you to hand them a mouse instead?

Basically I'm just wondering if any of you kingsnake keepers give your snakes eggs to eat. And if so, details please?

I have given my milk snake worm snake eggs.He liked them a lot more then pinkies. A guy at a pet store that used to give me love bird eggs that my corn snake used to eat.Kingsnakes can be switched to pinkies using the fluid from post hatch corn snake eggs as scent. Why don't you get a bird eggs and try it? Take some pics.

Check your local farmers market..........they sometimes stock quail eggs, which will be fine depending on how large your snake is.

Fascinating! How did you warm the eggs, just keep them under a heat lamp for a bit?
