nice hondurans ,i just got my first pair of tangerines imostlyave pythons (burms)so i dont know alot about the genetics of hondurans . so could u tell me what a hypo is because i see alot of different hypo pictures is it a lack of one of the colors or something. and if u breed 2 snakes that are het for hypo will u get any hypo babies.well tell me if my baby honduran is a nice looking one or what is wrong with it if anything the guy said it was a tangerine it looks like one to me but if its not tell me .i'm just starting with them so i have alot to learn well thanks for your time

Yours is a tangerine honduran and it is a nice looking one to.
A hypo has reduced black. Hypo stands for hypomelanism which is a recessive trait. You will notice that the hypos look kind of like a tangerine that has been bleached with clorox.
A het to het for hypo tangerine breeding will on average produce a clutch with 25% hypos, 50% het for hypos and 25% regular tangerine babies. The babies that hatch out of a clutch from het to het for hypo parents that are not hypos and look like regular tangerine hondurans are considered 66% possible het for hypo tangerine hondurans. I had 2 of these type het to het clutches to hatch out this year. One of them had 9 eggs and I got 4 hypos out of 9 which was lucky. The other clutch was 11 eggs and I only got 1 hypo out of 11. That was hard to believe but out of both clutches I got 25% hypos which is just what you are supposed to average. Hope this helps. Randy Whittington

Nice snakes randy,
I also got a couple out of the egg at daytona from bruce skipper.I think it was the same clutch you refer to.
I got a white one and a tangerine one both tri-colored hypos.

Thanks Shannon. It was the same clutch. I was actually at his table getting mine when you walked by and talked breifly to him about the ones you wanted. I would have spoke but did'nt know who you were until Bruce told me.
I was glad he had those hatching because they were from parents that were both tricolors. He had more tricolor hypos that were awesome but had both a tangerine and a tricolor parent.
Later, Randy W.

Man,
I wish you would have said something.I always like to put faces with names?Anyways,I will post a pic of one that I got from him that is bright orange and is a pinner to boot.
I just got another one from marc bailey that is awesome as well. Its a white one that will go good with the one that he produced last year.
I will post a pic of the yearling. She was solid white as a hatchling and now she has tons of red and purple tipping in the white bands and it will be neat to see if the tangerine/orange one stayes better looking as it grows??????
