Help ID this one...

Can anyone ID this snake? I think it might be a Ribbon, but I do not recognize the pattern. See photos.

It doe NOT have any stripe down the peak of the back (well, it is a black stripe or lack of a stripe). Then it has two yellow stripes each side of the peak of the back. Each belly scale is half black and hald white, laterally (banded). And the belly pattern extends up the sides some.

Pretty, but unknown by me. Thanks!

I believe it is a Striped Keelback, Xenocrophis vitattus. These are commonly sold with the name Indonesian Garter snakes. I have never kept them but I understand their care and temperament is similar to that of American Garter snakes, Thamnophis spp. I have read they are common pets in their indigenous range.

Wow. Sure enough that is it! Thanks!

Not sure where you aquired the keelback, but I know Petco has been selling those as "garter snakes" all over the U.S. They don't care what it is- if it has a stripe, and its wild caught- Petco will sell it as a "garter".
