Not a bp morph, but nice...

Not a bp morph, but still very nice. I noticed some people have posted raptor pics on the forum before so figured they would like these.

This is "Chicken Hawk Fail". He is an adult male red-tailed hawk I am currently rehabbing at work. He weighs in at 1,145 grams.

He earned his name because he was injured trying to raid a local commercial chicken farm - got one of his feet badly tangled in the thin plastic netting covering one of the outdoor pens. The netting was so thin, he probably didn't even realize it was there until he hit it. The damage is not too bad (mostly minor abrasions to the leg and foot and a case of severe exhaustion of fighting with the netting all night long). He had his first test flight this afternoon on a creance and his strength looks to be pretty good after having spent a week of bedrest and lots of chicks and rats. Hopefully with a few more test flights he should be releaseable by the end of the week.

For a wild hawk he is wonderfully well behaved - much much better behaved than our permenantly kept raptors.

beautiful

Good luck on releasing him in a few weeks. Hopefully he stays away from that farm.

He is wonderful! Just last week I helped to rescue a RedTail with an injured wing. They are remarkable animals.
