omg my bd is DYING

thecid Sep 11, 2003 06:05 PM

i thought my bd WAS dead until 5 seconds ago when he just puffed a breath of air. i noticed he was sluggish in the past couple days, but for some reason i didnt think anything of it. i got home today and he wasnt moving at all, and he LOOKED dead. i picked him up. no movement. flipped him over, tried to get him to wake up or something, put water on his nose. nothing. then he just gave a little breath. WHY!? what could possibly be wrong. he hasnt eaten anything harmful, he gets water, baths, etc etc etc etc... now i dont know what to do.... help?

im sorry that he died, you may want to have a necropsy done and find the cause. what was your set up like? what age/size/weight was your dragon? what were you feeding? supplementing? lighting etc? sorry you lost him, let us know if you find anything out.

he was about 4 months old i think.. he has repti carpet, reptisun 5.0, basking spot, hiding spots, hotter and cooler sides, got calcium dusted crickets at every feeding(the right size), and i think he ate some greens from time to time, but im not 100% sure (im at school all day, so i take care of them as soon as i get home, and dont see what they do).
I still have to find a vet in my area that specializes in reptiles, but i havent been searching too hard because i didnt think id have too anytime soon. this was kind of sudden anyway.
The dragon that he was living with is still doing fine. Could he have had anything to do with the others death? like stress? they were exactly the same size, and pretty much ate equal amounts of food. Now i want to make sure i do what i need to do for my other dragon. do i need to take any precautionary measures now that hes the only one?
any help would be appreciated.

>get a fecal done and have him looked at by your vet, clean out his enclosure very well also, its better to be safe. sorry again that you lost your other lil guy, i know how hard it is
