I was shooting some hognoses outside today when my red female started playing dead. There is blood coming from her vent and mouth, which worries me. Is this normal?
She is a large hog, and is usually not this freaked. It seems that as soon as she and the rest of my hogs get outside they start to almost revert back to there wild side.

The blood is completely normal. Pretty nasty surprise for people who don't know they can do it, though!

I cant recall the specific species of lizard but its a desert dweller and it shoots blood from its eyes at what it perceives as predators. Amazing animals!!

That would be the once common "horned toad" Phrynosoma carnutum (sp?).

Yeah I heard of that before...I just hadn't realized that hogs were able to do that too. It smells worst than racers' musk, imo.
Here are some of my other hogs...The red one is DH 66% hybino, whatever that is...lol
