raptor vs tremper hatchlings??

hayseed Mar 20, 2009 02:49 PM

Can anyone tell me what the eyes look like on newly hatched RAPTORS as compared to regular Trempers?

I have fresh hatchlings from a female who is known Tremper Het RAPTOR. The sire was sold to me as just a Tremper Tang. But I swear the new baby has red eyes. I'm wondering if this male may be het RAPTOR as well. The new baby just hatched last night and so I don't have pics yet.

What do eyes look like on very freshly hatched RAPTORs vs plain old Trempers or Tremper Tangs?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My new born trempers have red eyes too but they change as they get older. with the two that you are breeding you will not get RAPTORS. your hatchlings would be albino possible het for raptor. I believe that is how it works.

Yes, that's how it works.....but I believe he/she thought there was a possibility they were both het for RAPTOR.

Two het RAPTORS do have the potential to create other RAPTORS.

And yes, baby albinos of all strains will have red eyes upon first hatching, but this will diminish as the gecko grows. They are also more sensitive to bright light for the first 2 months.

Thanks everyone,

Yes, I was wondering if my male was unexpectedly het for RAPTOR. This is the first time I've bred albinos and I was just amazed with how red the eyes were. I was also amazed at how the hatchling seems to be sensitive to light. He's very healthy and active but definitely seems shy of light.

This was helpful to know. I suspect he's a normal Tremper and not a RAPTOR.

Thanks!
