Housing again

Cheesemonkey Mar 21, 2009 09:54 AM

i know i have already posted about this but i feel i need some more advice from a few other people.

I go to pick up my new pair of bulls in 1 week currently they are housed seperatly and have not been bred together so are not a pair. The store recomends i dont house them together and say i should spend a hell of a lot more money than i am already and buy a seperate setup for the smaller male. is there anything wrong with housing them together will they fight or bite or kill? will they mate and if so what are the chances of eggs being produced? male is 5ft female 6ft i just want to be 100% sure before putting them together.

Cheese,

I looked at your post below regarding this topic. What exactly are you looking for in terms of an answer? Ultimately it is probably not the best idea to house these animals together in the long term for a host of reasons. It sounds as if you are having difficulty spending the money for a second enclosure. I understand that it is a tough thing to do but maybe you should consider telling your self "no" on this one and not getting both snakes if you can't afford to set them up properly?

Another alternative is to purchase an inexpensive opaque storage box with a tight fitting lid. Box, lid, dog food dish for water and a bag of aspen bedding, recycled cereal box for a hide and you should get by under $25 USD.....

Keeping and collecting reptiles can become an obsession, (I think we have all experienced those out of control "gotta have it" moments), just be careful to avoid putting yourself in a position were the animals suffer from it!

I hope this does not come off too strong or condescending. I have no idea if you are a 10 year old kid new to keeping herps or an experienced 50 year old keeper? By your posts I assume that you lack some experience and could benefit by avoiding mistakes that we have all made in our herp keeping years so just take it with a grain of salt and use what you can.

good luck
