INTERESTING E. HOGNOSE

TOM_CRUTCHFIELD Mar 21, 2009 05:29 PM

A friend of mine recently aquired this snake which is a rather odd E. Hognose. It almost looks like an anerythristic but I'm not completely sure what an anery would look like. In any event I would appreciate your input and comments...Thank You

cute one Tom,......
friends here in Pa found one a couple years ago...said it looked all grey,,......I asked the same thing about it maybe being anery......then I saw a few pics online here and there in KS and they had probably the same grey look.....I think it may just be a color that easterns come in from time to time....STILL does not mean it isn't anery or axanthic and might make a really cool snow ...never know......soooooo.........you got the amel.........keep her fit and someday.........maybe a frosty morning in Florida.....?.....

just remembered at the show today the guy had a caramel blood python.....hypo blood x black blood...?...I forget....never know what you might get from that ...use hypo and amel on it....

good luck.......

Might be one that is turning melenistic....I see a lot in this area that are mostly grey as hatchlings. Lots of black up here.

Although it's not a hatchling..my first inclination is the same as yours..
It may well stay gray. I've seen them just like that in Hillsborough county and other spots too.

Hi Gerlow,

I would really appreciate it if you could post a pic or two of the girl that you say looks like this anery / axanthic. I am very interested in getting to the bottom of this possible new morph. It is a very exciting time in E. Hogs when a wild caught albino and wild caught anery surface in the same year.

Tom-

I found an eastern very much like that one in the Carolina sandhills, near the Okeetee club. This was back in the mid '80s.....I traded it to a local friend for an eastern king...

I love to talk hog with you folks but I don't get an opportunity to post very often but when I saw this I just had to. I believe this to be an anery or at the very least an anery "ish" E. I'm sure they surface from time to time as do many morphs. I really think this would be quite a combo when paired to that recently offered albino E. hognose. I think that was Tom Crutchfield also? Where are you getting all these E. hog morphs Tom?

I'm just rooting around looking for food and run into them sometimes..lol...Thanks everyone for your comments..

It would be nice if it was anery and also the opposite sex of your albino so you could breed them when the time comes.
It may just be a nice gray snake and it also may be one that will turn darker, even black.
Like this one...

Time will tell I guess.
Good luck!
