Whats your FAV species and FAV pic???

CFlowers Mar 21, 2009 09:55 PM

Whats your favorite species of milk snake?
Mine have always been Eastern Milks but they are pretty rare here and are protected.
But I'm really digging the 1.3 07 pales I got!!! They kinda fill my Eastern void. I may try coastals some day.
Thanks

I only have to species of milk and I have to say I love my adult female LTT that was wild caught last year. She has never bitten me and is as gentle as they come. Where are you located that they are protected? I might have to get some for ya this year!

Jeff Schofield Mar 21, 2009 11:26 PM

I used to have a ton of coastals but have a real affinity for my Monster Island easterns. I downsized to a single non-Monster milk to make more room, they are alot more variable than most think.

snake_bit Mar 21, 2009 11:30 PM

This red milk pic was the first pic I took outdoors this year and it turned out well.

This is one of my brighter gentilis and the pic came out nice

This female eastern milk was as bright as any I have seen. The bad news is she died this winter

I like this pic also

Wait one more

Ok last one I promise

Gotta go with the annulatas, really great milks. Just got back from a run down south, no milks tonight, but we saw one Thursday night, not squished! Did see 12 atrox and a last years bull snake.

Looks, demeanor, ease of care, etc. Mexican milks have the best of everything.

Doug that first photo is a keeper, very nice.

Doug,

I agree that the first animal is a beaut, but the critter with all the cross-overs is a looker, too. I'm partial to the heavy cross-overs in gentilis.

-Cole

Here is a gentilis with some cross-overs

Im thinking shes gravid

Mt Kings have nice ones too

that is such a tough question! I love all milks! If I had to liquidate my collection tomorrow and could only keep one, I would keep this girl...no pictures can do these justice...

Dave

Here she is almost exactly one year earlier

All the cosala locale animals are very nice and she's no different from the rest I have with respect to color, etc.

She's just a big old sweetheart that is over 600grams! Clearly the biggest one I have!

I think my favorite milk is easy -

My favorite photo of one? I don't know. Here's a photo I like contrasting the color of a black milk vs a Mexican Brown,...I mean "Black" King.

Dniles Mar 22, 2009 03:52 PM

Chris,

Chris,

I love that comparison photo. Pretty cool to see the difference. Care to post those gaigeae habitat shots again?

-Cole

BobS Mar 24, 2009 04:26 PM

I try not to be too tough on the "Brown" King guys because they are the second best Lamp I think at times. Nice Pic Chris. The shine on Gaigeae is more Patent leather than just a good polishing! Nice to see both side by side. Thanks for sharing
Bob.

The first part of your question is easy Chris.
1.Multistrata,no surprise there. But hard to pick just one.
2.Syspila,
3.Gentilis

This Cherry co. is my favorite.

This het. for hypo. gorilla syspila is in my top three. She's a beast too at over 40 inches long.

This Pale looking gentilis is tops for gentilis I keep.

Thank God we can keep more then just our top 3 milks, because I like this hypo. tri-color too. Oh wait I like these too......okay sorry you did only say one right?

That last photo your asking about is a 3 year old, hypo. Honduran tri-color from Rob Hanisen.(sp?) He has very nice Hondurans, and is a nice, easy guy to talk w/ too.

I also got a pair of geigeae from him this last winter too. -Dell

Jeff Hardwick Mar 22, 2009 10:05 PM

Hey, there's some outstanding snakes in all those postings, absolute knock-out milks one and all!
I may have a syspila addiction problem personally and you've all seen these pics before so it's almost time to post pics of their kids.

is my favorite species of milk snake (since all milk snakes are currently considered the same species). My favorite varient of the species Lampropeltis triangulum is the form known as L. t. multistrata, the Pale Milk Snake. These are in turn followed by gentilis, syspila, taylori, hondurensis, and so on in my list of favorites.
