Big Northern Pine

pdickens Mar 21, 2009 10:06 PM

I found this old photo of a big female Northern Pine that I owned at one time. I took this photograph to enter a contest in Reptiles mag. I didn't win but they published this photo anyway. This impressive snake was just under 8 feet, 4 inches long when we photographed her. I sold her a several years later but still have one of her offspring. I hope you enjoy the pic!

I think I recognize a couple of those people. Are they from the KC area? Nieves?

She's a behemoth! How's the offspring growing? Pics?

I held back a male and he is five years old and over seven feet. I doubt that he'll get as big as mom but she was at least seven years old in that photograph. He gets a medium rat once a week so it's not like I've been power feeding him. I purchased a female three years ago that comes from a bloodline of big Northerns. She should be near seven foot when I breed her to my male next Spring.

I remember that pic!!! I freaked out when I saw that in the Reptiles magazine, where you had entered it in for that contest.
Very cool that you were able to post it to share!!

I remember that snake Phil. It has been some time ago but if I remember right, you were pulling her out of a pillow case and I remember saying to Jud at the time "that python has strange scales for a python". Then when the head came out I about fell over! That was before I was into Pits and that day helped turn me to the pit world. That snake was enormous. Thanks for posting that. Take care!

That is an awesome northern pine!! I have a big girl that is approaching 7 feet, but that girl is truly huge.....do you know where she is now? It would be neat to get a few offspring from her.
