Herpstat Thermostats. Who has used them?

MimC85 Mar 22, 2009 12:00 PM

Hello all!

I am about to puchase (hopefully) a Herpstat Thermostat as seen here: http://spyderrobotics.com/products/herpstat.html

I have heard good things about this product, but before ordering it i just wanted to check and see if anyone has used this thermostat and if they were pleased, or if they would suggest i try another brand.

I will be using it for my corn snakes, and will be buying a separate one to use with my leopard geckos. The biggest things i liked about this product was the digital controls, and the fact its proportional and not "on/off" like the cheaper thermostats.

So my question is...has anyone used this? Did you find it worked well at keeping the temperatures acurate in your tanks? Do you have any complaints about it?

And most specifically - if i hook a power strip to it can i control mulptiple strips of heat tape with it? (of course all the strips of tape would need to be heated to the same temperature).

Thanks a million!

I have had mine for 3 years or so and love it. It's easy to use and I haven't had any problems with it. I have heard that they have really good customer service but I myself have never needed to use it. I use them in incubators, racks, and cages and they work great in all. I'm sure there are other great brands as well, but I really like the herpstats.

And yes, you can use a powerstrip to run more than 3 lengths of flexwatt. Just make sure to stay within the watt limit(500 on most units).
