Sorry man, but was referring to all of the 'transparent snakes' you guys got... the only pic that shows up is a single photo in your second post.

Post 'em!

The further north you go the bigger the honkers seem to get, the ones up in the "midwest" seem this way as well.

Todd, those TX Bulls are good looking snakes. Do they stay brown like that or do they change colors a bit? I love that TX Glossy too. I currently have a Glossy from AZ and one from our Mojave desert out here in CA. They're great captives, and I had NO TROUBLE getting them on mice! I always wondered why they were not more popular in the Pet trade. I guess their one drawback is that they're such slow growers. Have you ever kept any of the TX Glossies? Wondering if it was the same for them as well.

The bulls tend to lose the eye stripe but get lighter down here in my observations. I haven't seen a "red bull' myself, living only 30 miles from Kingsville, but they say they are really here.
The glossies here are 50/50 in taking mice for me, but once they do, watch out! I currently have one Texas glossy on mice from the get go, got him last year, he is an '08 so lots of time to grow. I haven't kept one through the entire juvie to adult process so I don't really know, but I would guess that sometime between their second and third year you will see a good growth spurt.

Todd,

The weather I thought I was leaving behind followed me all the way south ( minus snow at least..). Too cold for much herp activity. I heard a frog(?) calling in a ditch & got buzzed by a Barn Owl in the Town of Sonora.
The Caverns are beyond my ability to describe ( & I use to be a poet). Simply Breathtaking!
Also visited Natural Bridge Caverns north of San Antonio. Again, spectacular caverns, but not much in Herps. I did manage to add a Yellow cheeked warbler to my Birding List, however.
Well, I hope I get a few warm days up here before the week is out. Perhaps I'll try some field work over by Glen Rose.
Fortunately, I have another week I can take vacation this year. I'll wait for warmer weather. Either head to New Mexico or head south to your area & finish of the EP caves.

Cheers,
Matthew

Good to know as I am heading that way this weekend. Especially since there is a chance of a light wintry mix a few miles north of my house. I'm going to the Caverns of Sonora to check those out, but do you know of good herping in that area?

Sincerely,
Matthew
Lots blooming here, but I've only seen a ground skink so far..

The Caverns are really neat! I was in Sonora as a kid thirty-odd years ago and caught a coachwhip, 277 and 377 are not far away for gray banded kings and such, little early but the weather down here has been fantastic.

Tod,

It has got to be better than what is headed our way tomorrow up here. Too bad, because the weather feels right ( I'm in cut-off shorts & shirt right now) for herps to start showing. Anyway, I've been told for over a year how superb the caverns are, best in Texas, so I am going to look. Also, taking a new telescope to get away from Dallas/FT worth light pollution.
And hoping to see some snake activity, of course! LOl

L8R,
Matthew
