Flexwatt safety question

Omnivorous Mar 22, 2009 03:27 PM

I know your not suposed to nail through the flexwatt. I have been told you can staple it on the edges where its the plastic/mylar only. My question is can the flexwatt sit on nail heads. I dont have a lot of tools so I cant do much fancy work. Im nailing a board to some wood blocks to make a cheap spare quarantene tanks. Can the flexwatt lay over the wood where there is a nail head and not melt the material and it be safe? Would be run around 95-96 degrees. I am not nailing through the flexwatt just laying the flexwatt over where I nailed the board to the block?

i wouldn't see a problem with it.............

as long as you cover the head of the nail with some tape AND not have the tub slide back and forth over the nail head.

Give the nail an extra whack or two so it's recessed below the surface of the wood.

Have you tried aluminum tape? I used it on mine to keep the flex flat.
