I am trying to collect one of every type, of python and boa for my collection. As well as the morphs.I know this goal is going to take me years to accomplish. And my research is endless.I got my first python at age 8.Been keeping and breeding every since. But bloods are new to me.I know a few people on this forum.Rich Crowley,Kelly Haller,Tracy Barker, and Kara.I was at the St Louis reptile show yesterday. And I picked up and mojave ball python.Well I left the show and was looking for some place to eat. While looking I came across a pet shop. And I always check out new pet stores when i find them. They had a blood python in there for $99.Ive been wanting one for awhile. And I looked at the tail couldnt find any spurs. So I think its female havent sexed it yet.Pretty docile temperment.Still have to watch it.Its about 2and 1/2 3feet long. But for $99 and they didnt charge me tax.I just couldnt pass the deal up.Im not sure if its a Malayasian or a Sumatran.I believe its a Malayasian.Maybe you guys can help with that.Right now it is in a 30 gallon long. The Humidity is at 70%.I cut a hole in a plastic wash basin for a hide.Although the snake dug into the reptibark, and hides under the water bowl instead. The locking screen top has plastic trash bag covering part of it to keep humidity up.Temps are 85 ambient and 95 basking. This is just my basic Setup.Im currently looking for caresheets.I know Kara had one on NERDs page. But the page is being redone. So have to see if its still there. But you guys keep and breed these animals. So I can learn valuable information here thats not alway in caresheets. For the members that dont know me already,my name is Kevin Harrison.Ill be happy to meet you guys. For those of you with AOL my screen name is imridethelghtng. So shoot me a instant message. And we can talk bloods, or any other pythons or boas.Well I guess thats all for now. Ill leave you with a picture of my baby, that i got at a steal.

I read NERDS caresheet. The temps have been lowered. 82 ambient and 88 basking.I also lowered the humidty a bit.Hygrometer was reading 70%.I added a tad more ventilation to get it down to 60%.Thats what NERDS site said it should be.If there is any other changes that need made please let me know. Also anyone know if its sumatran or malayasian blood?

Too many pythons and boas to count

The difference is really a locality thing. Since most if not all of the farmed animals are Sumatran, best guess is its a Sumatran locality of Python brongersmai. Good luck, I hope you do well with it.

Kevin,
Glad to see you posting here in this forum. Malaysian bloods have not been imported into the U.S. in about 15 years or so. It is therefore most likely a Sumatran, however there are still a few Malay bloodlines around. I currently have a pair of older adults that I have had for many years that were produced from some wild caught adults that were imported in the 80's.
