A little OT but still a boa.....

rainbowsrus Mar 23, 2009 04:46 PM

This guy just shed yesterday. Lazarus (genetic stripe BRB). So named because he came back from the dead. For those that don't remember or connect the dots (or read the rainbow forum). There was some shipping confusion with Delta. The shipper though he was supposed to arrive 11PM the same day when the flight was actually an 11AM flight. Because of timing that meant it would overnight in Atlanta. When the package arrived this guy and his sister were both totally cold, belly up, limp and lifeless. Thought they were dead. After a fairly long time cupping them in my hands they both twitched and eventually took a breath. All in all it took them over a half hour to move at all and close to an hour before they were moving somewhat normally. The sister (not pictured) is a pos het normal...

Yeah, reminds me of your "Lazarus" story!!

That is part of the fun in this hobby, many animals have a unique funny story behind them.

to reveal to us what the surprise animal was... not nice Dave.

That is a very cool looking fella there, you must be excited for him to grow. You know I keep telling myself I would want one of those some day, maybe you could help me find someone who breeds them hehe.

Nice
Joel

Yeah sorry for the delay but you have to understand I was a little shaken by the whole experience and wanted to be sure the lil guy was OK. That and fresh shed is always best!!!

Hmmmm, racking my brain but I can't think of any decent breeders!! (Only an indecent one)

Yep just kidding you Dave, I remember the story very well and honestly I figured the worst had happend, I am glad as that is a stunner BRB!

That little one is deserving of a very special name to match his story, maybe a name that boa thread is in order?

Glad is worked out.

Joel

His name is Lazarus - raised up from the dead. Thought it quite fitting.

on Saturday it was BRB 101. I now know how to pick the nice Rainbows.
Nick Stone and I had a chance to visit Dave and his huge collection of boas. Saw Reece's in person and that animal blew my socks off. Thanks for letting us come over.

rainbowsrus Mar 24, 2009 02:17 AM

Hey Derek, Was fun having you and Nick over to visit, chat and check out the collection. It's fun to see boa people looking at my collection as you guys see what I see and understand the value of all the different animals. Most of my family and friends are more like OK, so you got another snake or nice color on that one. All the time having NOOOOO idea what they are looking at.

Forget which one of you mentioned my wife supporting me and my hobby. Trust me, I know how true it is ..... I owe it all to my wife!!!!!! WC, Still feisty but very much loving and supportive of MY hobby.

Plus, now I have even more witnesses on how insanely colorful Reeses really is!! I do try with the pics but they still come up short on his true beauty!!

Thanks again for the tour Dave. Yes, all of Dave's pics of Reese's are true. At first I thought that there was a neon red light on in his tub, they way his color was glowing through it.

All the more reason to get in line for one of his pieces...

Dave,
That is an awesome animal, I am glad they pulled through alright. After seeing some of your BRB's, if I ever expand my BCI collection to something else, it would definitely be BRB's. You have some phenomenal animals.
