First clutch!

jokerfish Mar 24, 2009 01:53 PM

27 days exactly after her shed, my MEAN female dropped these goodies at about 1 am this morning. She was bred to both a cinnamon, and a pastel multiple times, so who wants to guess whats in each egg?

"She was bred to both a cinnamon, and a pastel multiple times, so who wants to guess whats in each egg?"
That depends entirely on what the female is. At this point, I would venture to guess maybe some pastels, maybe some cinnys.

Would it be impossible to get a pewter doing it this way?

BrucenBruce Mar 24, 2009 06:34 PM

Each egg can be fathered by only one snake. You'll get some pastels maybe, some cinnies maybe, some normals for sure. Hope none of 'em have their momma's temperament, LOL!

Congrats on the clutch!!

>>Would it be impossible to get a pewter doing it this way?

No it's not possible. The baby take a gene from the mother, and a gene from the father.

It's impossible that both father are the parents of the baby and not the mother.

I did also breed both of those males to my female pastel so HOPEFULLY I get a pewter out of that pairing!

You're having some difficulty understanding the concept here. You 100% cannot produce a pewter for either a normal to pastel or normal to cinny breeding. As mentioned, the babies take one gene from the mother (normal) and one from the father (either pastel or cinny). You NEED a pastel x cinny breeding to produce a pewter, not a normal to pastel or cinny.

You are absolutely right, but I never said I could produce a pewter from the normal to either of those males, that was a comment from someone else. I did however say that I bred a pastel female to a male cinny and a male pastel and I hoped to hit th eodds on that pairing.
