Kind of related to the post below this..

My normal female was hatched on 05/02/07 and I was wondering if maybe her growth was stunted. I don't know how much she weighs because I don't have a scale. But she's about two years old, and I've posted a couple pictures for size reference. Also, I've had her for about one year, so for at LEAST one year she was kept in the small container in the picture (she's wrapped all the way around it by the way).

Thanks!

Hey,

Looks like between 300 and 400 grams to me. Definitely towards the 400 gram side. How much does it eat. I have an 07 female that weighs about 550 grams and she will not eat about 5 months a year and she only eats once a week. Hope that helps.

She eats a rat fuzzy once per week, and has not gone off of feeding at all, ever. She was fed mice up until about one month ago, I tried rats and she took with no problem. I know they can be stubborn, but she hasn't shown any signs of it...yet.

Hey she can eat more that one a week. I have one male that is 400 and he takes 2 or 3 a week or a small rat.

Wow really?!?!?

Keeping a ball in that container for any length of time is just stupid and cruel.

No wonder you don't have feeding issues with her -- you are starving her of course she'll eat anything -- a ball that size should be feeding on wean to small rats. Fuzzies are for the first meal maybe they aren't balanced nutrition for a ball.

Put her in appropriate housing and feed her appropriately and she will grow to appropriate proportions -- but it will take a while for her metabolism to readjust.

I agree !

That container is WAY too small for a ball python or any other snake I can think of. (I wouldn't have put a gecko in that).

and I am sure she can take more than a fuzzy rat. I would keep feeding once every week but a small rat instead of multiple smaller meal.

I take it that it was in that container untill they bought it....if they got it a year ago...it is a little under 2 years old...it isn't that small...it isn't that big either...but looks ok....yes we have 6 month old ones that big....but I also know it could be 3 years old and that big....

......and people say fuzz rat...big fuzz? little fuzz? or actually a hopper or small?...different people say different sizes...

feed it a small a week...that's.....eyes open and running around rat..........(yes this varies too)....good luck and keep going...you cannot change the past.........

I think there was some confusion. I've had her for more than one year and she's lived in a 40 gallon aquarium with the appropriate setup the whole time. The rat fuzzies she's been taking for the most part are just opening their eyes and crawling around. She eats once per week, and I realize she could could probably eat more, but I was concerned about her growth rate.

Hi,

The snake looks fine. Keep fresh water and a nice warm home with a place to hide. Feed it at least a weaned rat or something about 50 to 80 grams in weight once a week. Many people have snakes that grow at the rate you have grown yours at. The breeders just want to grow their snakes at a much higher rate so they will produce babies. If it is a pet you are fine. I did not assume for one minute that you kept your snake in the deli container pictured. How dumb would that have been.

Enjoy,
Bill

i don't know if it was you or someone else who kept that snake in there, but that container is an absurd home - is that a little catsup cup as a water bowl?
