Ovulation time period

How long does an ovulation last if the male didn't do his job and get the female pregnant? I've been reading "the ultimate care manual" and the breeding part that Jeff Ronne wrote, some things in there make me think my female is gravid, some things in there make me feel like she's just ovulating. I put my male with her in October if I remember correctly and separated them two times for feeding, once the male was no longer interested, I took him out. Now my female looks pretty big, but she's doing the slow motion movements like Jeff pointed out occurs when she's ovulation. Did I miss something? it's driving me crazy that I don't actually know if she's pregnant or not, is it too late to put the male back and see if they lock up again? as you can tell I don't really know what I'm doing here, have to start somewhere right?

You could throw the male in and see what behavior occurs.
Actually I believe your fem may just be moving Ova and intestinal byproducts around.
You have to learn somewhere is correct,
observation is a great teacher.

haha. I was watching my female and she didn't know I was there so I know I didn't spook her, she was moving very slightly and all of the sudden her whole body puffed up, then went back down. Does that mean anything or am I looking way too hard at all of this?

On everything that seems different and some that may not. I have watched (caught) a couple of my girls doing the irregular breathing before, during, and after ovulations I imagine there is a lot going on inside, like Larry said observation is a great teacher. Oh yeah take notes, you will appreciate that you did for years to come. I also agree to put the male back in there to see.

Good luck .
