FINALLY AT LAST MY

TOM_CRUTCHFIELD Mar 25, 2009 06:22 PM

Bahamaian Epicrates are starting to breed. All my others except for the E. angulifer and these have been breeding for a couple of months but the Berry Islands are just starting today and so are the Bimini's. Hopefully the Cubans will be next....Thanks for looking..

Great news, Tom, got my fingers crossed for you on those. The outdoor enclosures must be doing the trick!

How long have you typically observed copulation lasting in the striatus ssp? I think Tolson stated anywhere from 30mins to several hours.
Cheers, Ryan

Also Tom I a pair of strigs breeding last night. We had some heavy rains overnight which may have helped?

Tom,
...Great PICs. Cinder blocks and palm or palmetto fronds? Reminds me of their "natural" habitat. I flipped palm fronds and checked the walls of abandoned buildings on several islands but did not find any. Just like hunting for Ratsnakes there were pieces of shed skins on top of the walls and on the rafters. Hope you bring some babies to Daytona.
Jeff

Actually Jeff, I've caught more in concrete blocks than anywhere else. Thats why I use them covered with palm fronds as cover and hide boxes. I've taken many a Bahama Boa out of just such a hide spot on many Islands including several species and subspecies....I hope I'll have some for Daytona also but we'll see if their born in time...thanks
