ok, I am a corn person but I have a sonoran gopher that I am having trouble sexing.
I posted this over in the gopher forum, but no response yet. So, I am hoping there is a corn person out there that also knows gophers.
How many scales deep will a probe go on a female?
Some books give you a reference range. Like; #-# scales is female or this # to this # is male. Does that make sense?
I have what i was told was female. I think by looks it might be, but it probed deep for a female, but shallow for a male. Plus, my male does not want anything to do with "her". He is much smaleer than her, though. I can't use his tail nor my pacific gophers' tail for comparison because they are all so much smaller than the snake in question.
Give me a corn to sex anyday, but this one has me stumped.
Thanks!
