corn snake lump-any suggestions?

melani124 May 24, 2003 04:03 PM

I have owned a corn snake for three years. It lives in a 55 gallon tank, 85 on one side, 75-78 on the other. It has hiding areas, branches, a large water dish, and gets baths occasionally. The substrate is Eco Earth, a pulverized, sterilized coconut bark. It hasn't eaten for me for almost two months, and before this it was eating 2 mice a week. It kills the mouse, then leaves it on its cage floor dead. Today while soaking it I noticed a large soft lump right above the vent on its one side. It has been going to the bathroom until recently so I don't think it is a blockage, and the substrate is too small to cause one anyway. I don't know if it is a male or female, I am considering getting a vet to see if it is a stuck unfertilized egg. Before I take it to a vet I wondered if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks.
