Great shots.. Yes, a new camera does make all the difference and a new lens makes all the difference too... But, in my case i purchased a $600 macro lens for my Canon Rebel nearly 6 months ago and i still have not have time to open the box and learn how to use it... So, I still use my point and shoot. Go figure!
Can you post a better pic of that hatchling? It looks interesting.

Maybe the new owner has some better pics as he will probably see this post. The second pic is another River rd from the same clutch. I hopw this is an indication of what this years clutch might look like.

Damn, that snake doesn't hurt either.
On the clutch, are you sure you are not breeding alterna with spider morph balls?
