Will females continue to lock up......

Garcia09 Mar 26, 2009 12:50 PM

while gravid? I have had a pair together since early February and I have witnessed no less than two dozen locks. I cannot visibly see that the female is gravid but she has gained sufficiant weight to a point that I believe she is. This is my first attempt at breeding so I was not sure if she was gravid once I noticed she was still willing to breed after gaining so much weight. Any info would be helpful.
Thanks,
Kyle

Yes, females will routinely breed several times.
They become less receptive when it gets close to egglaying time.

What are those in that picture you posted? I am guessing an amel stripe and a snow (can't see pattern). Do you have any close ups?

That's a vanishing pattern snow:

Tim,

Do those originate from striped lines like your VP ghosts?

Those are nice looking animals.

Indeed they did. Hey, you've got a nice one there too!

Thanks. He hatched 7/07, and is now about 42". He has been on the prowl for the last couple of months, but he is out of luck this year. I plan to breed him with my '08 hypo stripe, het for anery, when she is big enough.
