Unique Pastel Calico

dwherp Mar 26, 2009 01:45 PM

Shown is a very different looking Pastel Calico that hatched here last fall. He hatched in a clutch of five that produced three Pastel Calicos and two Calicos - all males. Although this Pastel Calico was the most extreme, all of them have extensive blushing with a definite black back look. If he'll cooperate, I plan to breed him back to Mom in 2010. Things like this keep it interesting!

Hope you enjoy,
Dan

Dan very different indeed! What if anything was unusual about the mother of that clutch? Was she dark like a Cinny , bright orange or what?

Hi Anthony,

As far as I can tell the Pastel mother is a pretty normal looking Pastel... genotypically however I'm betting there is something more to her than meets the eye

Hey Dan, did you keep track of who the female Pastel came from? I guess I was thinking you bred a Pastel Calico to a normal and got those weird ones. The grandparents are the ones I would wonder about then and likely it would be the "normal" mother of the Pastel I'd be checking out if I could . Good luck with it ! Keep us posted!
