It Doesn't Look Like Christmas Will Come

fgs Mar 26, 2009 02:03 PM

I'm sad to inform you all that my female motley het albino bred to my albino motley is not going to give birth this year.

It seemed that she went through all of the right stages, but on the evening of day 105 she dropped a stool with a large amount of fluid. In my excitment I thought it was her waxy stool, but after examining her closer I realzed that she was now pretty thin.

It is now day 108 and she looks thinner than my team of of tired breeder males.

The good thing is that she and the albino motley are doing fine. All I can do now is lick my wounds and begin the long process of trying to produce the same litter next year.

I want to thank you all for the support you gave me during these last few months. In many ways it wasn't just my litter, but it was one of those litters the entire boa community was looking forward to seeing.

I hope there are others working with the same project that will have better luck than I did.

Best regards

Brian

Hey Brian, chin up old man, You know as well as the rest of us and already said it yourself, the health of the breeder animals is primary. If you miss this year and keep them healthy, there will always be next year!!!

In your vid I was thinking she had that "not very big" look, either a small litter or not gravid and jacking with you!! Got a few of those myself this year as usual!!!

How are the rest of your prospects looking?

Ahh Brian, what a bummer, I'm so sorry to hear this.

You're 100% sure she's not gravid? I may be overly optomistic, but I hope she's just holding out on you and will still give you a surprise.

Either way, like you said, at least they are both doing okay and you can try again next year. They sure keep us on our toes don't they.

I'm so sorry for the bad news Brian, hang in there! I was really hoping she would come through for you. I'm sure she will make it up to you and give you a nice big litter next year.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out. I'm glad that you're optimistic though. I know how you like the saying...
There's always next year!!

John_Kielbasa Mar 26, 2009 02:51 PM

Sorry to hear that Brian. I just watched the video you made a few days ago, and was really looking forward to seeing that litter. Hopefully next season it will work out for you.

Pithons Mar 26, 2009 02:52 PM

Sorry to hear brian. I saw the pair in your video. At least they are still healthy. And you never know mother nature, she could still give you a lucky baby. Maybe. How are the other 2 females that your albino mot bred to. Also what where they. Thanks and good luck with the rest of your season.

sdi Mar 26, 2009 03:03 PM

Brian,

This whole time you were updaing us I was thinking that it was good to see that one of the good guys was going to probably hit on the albino super motley.

I am sorry that it worked out the way it did but like everyone else has said at least you have a healthy female still.

Take care. It will only get better from here on out.

Sorry to hear the news Brian. I hold out hope that she may still
be hiding a couple babies in there and that was the waxy stool.

Not to bring false hope, but I have had more than one female that didn't look gravid any more that surprised me with a nice litter of babies! I'm waiting a few more days before I say I'm sorry to hear that Brian!

BROWNSBOAS Mar 26, 2009 07:50 PM

I hope it ain't so, but if so sorry to hear it! I know how it feels too! I have been trying to produce a freakin' snow boa for 9 years! I've had three litter with the possiblity and no snows! And to top things off I had a customer that I sold a pair of Het Albinos 50% Pos Het Snow to back in 04 prove the pair out as DblHets and got three snows! Made me feel real good, and all my wife could do is laugh at me cause the guy had too bring them over to me too sex them out for him! HUMBLE PIE!!!!!!!

Take Care Brian,

Al Brown/Brown's Boas

VFR Mar 27, 2009 02:17 AM

From the time I have known you, you waited some time to produce something good and then last year you produced a sunglow motley! Just like the sunglow motley I think it is a matter of time before you experience another one of those moments. Keep your head up you got some great boas in your future!

That's a heartbreaker, sorry to hear it.

I'm sorry Brian. I hope you're wrong though and she throws a litter for you anyway. Best of luck. Mike Panichi
