breeding boa ?

Tbone21 Mar 27, 2009 11:58 AM

OK so I have very limited reptile breeding experience. I recently got a 66% het for snow male for cheap from someone i know (just a baby). I am looking to get a female to raise also and later breed with it hopefully. Now I know breeding a snow would produce snows and albino 100%het for snows would also produce some. What would such things as breeding a female that is 100% het for snow or albino like what would those produce. I am just curious and in the process of looking and coming up with breeding ideas to come up with some interesting stuff but since first time breeding dont know if I want to spend all the money it cost for snows or albinos 100% het for snow. So some advice and ideas would be appreciated.....

I've tried everything to get mine to breed. And still, 3 years later NOTHING!! =*( I think they just don't like each other. My 03' het albino is about 7-8 feet in a 4x3x2 tank and my 05' dh sun glo male is in a 422 vision. I keep them apart for saftey reasons when I'm not trying to breed them. I've tried just putting them together for a month at a time, I've tried cooling them down and not feeding for a month (I felt so bad!!) then putting them in her cage together and heating them up after a feeding...nothing!! I'm on my 4th attemp in 3 years and I haven't seen any action yet. They cuddle but just aren't attracted to each other I think...sigh. Good luck with your project though!!

I put mine together in Early October and only seperate them monthly for a good meal. No big deal to go a month between feedings, they normally would go longer in the wild. Sometimes it can take several months.

Bigger question you should be thinking about is do you have a sexual pair??? Mistakes in sexing are all to common. All manual sexing methods are positive for male and if not positive - then it's a girl. So, most sexing mistakes are males thought to be female. ie you could have two males. Look at and feel aroung the tail just post vent for differences. Males will be spongt for several scale rows past the vent due to the inverted hemipenes. Females can be a little spongy for the first scouple of scales but are solid muscle/bone after that.
