What are ideal temps? I've been keeping my cal king at about 88-90 during the day and about 80-82 at night, but I think its just a bit high. I've looked at a lot of care sheets, but I find a wide range of temps, and I trust you guys more than those random people on the internetz.

Forgot to mention I use a heat lamp, whenever I turn the uth on she always lays directly on the glass and I don't want her getting burned.

Hi i use UTH for my brooks and my temps range from 80-84 through the day and 72-76 through the night im fairly new to snakes but i think this is about the average temp range most will use.

hi andres, the bigger your temp gradient the better. there are manymanymany ways to acheive this.
any heating elament should be controlled via a thermostat, this will prevent burns.
kings do great at 60-75 cool side and 80-95 warm side. if i read your post right a constant 85 or higher during day and your drops at nite may very well stress your king, they(kings) need to be provided with a constant temp gradient availible at all times for optimal health. good luck and have fun.

No offense, these are the random people on the internet.

Snakes require and prefer to use a range of temps, from cool to very warm. A range from 55F to 100F(basking area). With 55 to 75F being the preferred resting temps.

Most people do what people like to do, that is, average it out and make the snakes become very average.

So exactly which average you want depends on you, as its not really about the snakes. Cheers
