I lost him last night, he's an arizona mountain kingsnake, and he's still a baby. I made a mistake when I put him back in the cage last night by not securing the lid well enough there was a small enough crack for him to slither through.
that sucks
Is it in a secure room? you most likely will not find that snake but try 3" masking tape with some FT pinks before bed

check underneath household appliances that generate heat.........my first reaction is always to tell people to check underneath the refrigerator.

It likely hasn't gone far. One of my king snakes got away in a very similar fashion and I found it three days later. I put down flour across any door and hallways and it worked great. Just wait for him to cross one and try and figure out which way he went and then rip apart that room, even in places that you don't think he could possibly be.
