Sharing fresh shed Northern Pines

nodaksnakelover Mar 29, 2009 11:38 PM

Some of last years hold backs recently shed and I took some shots of them. I'm sure hoping the adult females that are about to lay anytime now are laying fertile eggs! Two females have each laid a slug each already. I've seen that before in corns. Usually they'll go on to lay the rest of the clutch and most are fertile. So I'm a bit anxious! Incubator working and ready... Here are the recent pics. I LOVE Northern Pines!

Hey Russell,
Man, you really picked some good holdbacks. I especially love the one in the top two pics, but they ain't nothing wrong with any of those. That bottom one looks just about white. One out of those two pair I got from you in 05 is still holding onto quite a bit of that red. How close is that flood to you?

Raymond,
there is overland flooding in some places nearby but I am two hour drive away from the Red River in Fargo where most of the media is reporting on. I'm fine where I'm at, so far!

Glad to hear the pines are doing well for you! I might have to buy some babies from you when they produce. Do you remember, are they from my original male or were both clutches by the same father? I don't recall but I'm thinking it was by two different males that year. That was the last year I think the original male bred Big Girl, which is where your more red pair are from. I'd like a pair of their babies from you. Anyhow, thanks for the compliments. Though the white guy is a smoker, I actually prefer the darker one with more contrast with the red in her just like her mother. Same mother as your red ones but different male I believe.

Russell,
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they were. I will go back through my old emails and forward copies back to you of our conversations from when I bought them. I have just gotten them warmed back up. I went from mid Dec through three weeks of March and they are feeding now. Will be putting them together very soon now.
