FedEx Certified!

BoaGal Mar 30, 2009 02:13 PM

Hey everyone! Oh my gosh, work is really busy right now. I work at a kennel and it's spring brake so we have about 90 dogs there and I'm working nonstop.

Anyways, I just got certified to ship live harmless reptiles with FedEx! I'm reading over the waiver I have to sign and towards the bottom it says: "Company acknowledges that all shipments tendered to FedEx under this Agreement are for Business to Business delivery only. No residential deliveries are allowed under this Agreement."

Does everyone just ignore this and do it anyways or is this a new addition? Do you think they monitor who you ship to?

Thanks!

That they will ignore. What they WILL NOT ignore is the waiver you sign saying that if anything dies during shipment, they are not responsible. They mean it. I lost a four thousand dollar box in Arizona a few years ago and had to eat it. Anyway, best of luck. I still say its a good system. Expensive but good. And by the way, quite a few people will tell you not to mark the box with whats inside. Take it from me, eventually, you will run into problems with a State Fish and Game commission or worse, US Fish and Game. It happened to me on two occasions(both in California) before I finally learned my lesson. I now properly label the box with the following;

Number of animals
Common Name & Latin name

Here is an example.

This box contains three(3)Boa Constrictors (Boa Constrictor Imperator)

You are also required to have an invoice inside the box which should(I should say better)match whats actually inside.

I hope this helped. Hopefully you can avoid some of the bumps in the road I have gone through with them. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me through kingsnake.com Best of luck. Mike Panichi

The Lacey Act requires that all shipments of wildlife or

wildlife products be accurately marked or labeled on shipping containers; it is a

violation to transport wildlife and wildlife products under falsely marked containers.

This is what I was told when I first started shipping reptiles. The person who told me

had extensive personal experience with the enforcement of the act, so we always were

certain to cross every T.
