Mojave coloration

gzgraph Mar 30, 2009 04:55 PM

My future projects include a pair of mojaves to make some super mojaves. But I would also like to create some normal mojaves as well by breeding the male to some normal females. So here is my question: Is there any color or pattern trait in a normal female ball that can improve a mojave's coloration? Or does it just depend on the grade of the male mojave to begin with? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ken

You'll get regular mojaves from mojave x mojave pairings too. As far as pairings, go for what you think would be good. Brighter females, reduced patterning, high blushing sound like good bets to me.

Ken:

The best advice I can give is to always breed your best to your best. By selective breeding even a normal can look pretty nice.

My suggestion is to breed your mojave to your most light colored normals that show as much blushing as possible.

Here is a holdback female Blushing Mojave I produced last year. She was produced by breeding my male mojave to my best looking normal female. The entire clutch came out looking great! Go to this link and check out the video on my ball python collection http://www.for-goodness-snakes.com/gallery.html. Look for the snake that I mention as the mother of my best mojave clutch of 2008. You will also be able to see some of the other Blushing Mojaves I have produced.

If you have any questions I can be reached at (408)981-6694.

I hope you're having a great season.

I searched for 8 months for my male and i seen A LOT of mojaves I did not find quite the male that I wanted but I DID find an absolutly stunning female mojo crisp dark blacks nice light greens and high bright yellows. My best advice is to find the best of the best! I found my super select mojo from a breeder that was a joy to deal with and if you would like to Email me I will send you some photos of her and give you his contact information.
