Stargazing

Is there a stargazing defect in black rats or albino black rats? I have never heard of it mentioned, so was curious.

I haven't heard of genetic defects causing stargazing. In boids, stargazing is caused by a retrovirus called Inclusion Body Disease. Since many people keep both boids and colubrids, it's only a matter of time until the virus expands into colubrid territory, if it hasn't happened already.

Reptile Mag had an interesting article on this, its most common in boids but there may have been cases involving colubrids to.

Not all sunkissed corns are "stargazers" but it seems that almost all cases of stargazing found in corns goes back to sunkissed.
I have never read anything about any obsoletas being affected by stargazing ....YET.
There are several people using stargazers to test their sunkissed lines. This way they can illiminate any stargazers from breeding.
It seems to be fairly predictable so hopefully it can be pretty much removed from the hobby with some patience and good records keeping.
