Garter Snakes in Ontario, Canada

I was out today and found my first Garter Snakes of the year. These were taken at Mark S Burnham Provincial Park in Peterborough, Ontario.

That has to be one of the best tongue shots I've ever seen, fully extended and in focus at the base of the tongue, very nice! Thanks for sharing, if they are out in Canada they should be out in Iowa, but we are having some nasty cold weather this week. I hope to get out next weekend if it warms up a bit.

We're also experiencing some cold weather and some snow right now. I was out with my kids yesterday and found over 10 Garters in a small area. It was 10C (50 degrees F). Today it's just below freezing and the same place would be under a couple of inches of snow.
