"...can i put one of these kane pig mats right in the cage and let a burm lay on it?"

Yes

"...do i need a thermosdat with it?"

Either a thermostat or at least a rheostat. You will need something to control the temperature.

Most places that sell Kane Heat Mats also sell the Kane pre-wired Rheostats.

Have a good one!

Yes you will need to get a retro stat or therma stat. I got mine when I got the kate heat mats, and even set on the low low dial, its still gets to 100 degrees. They get very hot.

the mats should be mouted on the wall for best results not under the cage
