very pretty sikore. I amsuming that they are a breeder pair. were did you get them and what type are they s.sikore or s.sametai. i will try to post pics as soon as i can. also do you know of more places that has sikores for sale? any place would be great thanks.
They are s. sikorae, and while they are housed together, I have not had any luck breeding yet. Some day I hope
I bought them seperately, one from Reptile Depot (their website seems to be down? Hope they didn't go out of business), and the other from LLL Reptile. I went to both stores in person, and they both have excellent stock.
I drove over 250 miles to get Bela

all of mine have come from LLL reptile. i really like they way they do things there.in fact just about everything i own (6 leaftails sikore and 5 ebauni and 1.1 cresteds)have come from them. i always wondered about reptile depot and how good they were over there. would you recomend them for mail order. i was just wondering for futre notice. thanks
Hmm, the last time someone started a thread about Reptile Depot, the thread misteriously dissappeared ... we'll see if if the same happens here?
I've read some negative things about Reptile Depot, about how they are a "bulk" dealer, and don't take care of their animals, but after being there in person I could not confirm any of the rumors. Their stock seemed very clean and well-cared for from what I could see. They had a huge selection of just about everything. However, much of their stock advertised on their website is not out on display. I called them originally asking for female U. Sikorae, to which they claimed they had 9 or 10. So I made the 170-or-so mile trip up there to check it out. Their Uro's were not on display in the shop, and they would not let me in the back room to check them out. Instead they brought out 1 female, and basically told me she was the best one they had (in fact, they only had 2 females, the other was a tail-regen). But she is a good-looking gecko for sure, just look at the pics
But regardless of that, she was in perfect health, and I would say even in better health than the male I got from LLL. The people at Reptile Depot did mention they had her for about 6 months (before they sold her to me), where-as the stock from LLL came in 4 weeks prior to me buyin my male from them.
Anyways, to answer your question, I haven't had any shipping experience with Reptile Depot, but from my experience with them, they seem pretty reliable to me, and at least up to the same standards as LLL.

thanks for your info on how reptile depot. i was always wondering how they are.personally i would rather get something that was only in captivity for a few weeks than months. the guys at LLL reptile called me to make sure i didn't mind a tailess female. i said i didn't mind and that was how i got one of my samaties. in all i like to "keep my eggs in one basket." in other words when i find a good dealer i keep them. thanks for your opinoin.
Any reason why you'd rather buy a "short term wild" as opposed to a "long term wild" caught reptile?
My theory, at least, is that the conditions the gecko are being kept in are far better at the pet shop than they are in the boxes sent over from Madagaskar. Now, I don't know exactly how Uroplatus' are commonly shipped, but if it's like most other reptiles, they're brought over in large quantities in a single box. This means that whatever diseases and parasites one of them have, they pretty much all have by the time they reach the shores of America.
Now back to my point. I figure that a gecko that has been in care of the shop for several months (and is actually looking healthy!) is more of a "sure bet" as to the overall health and longevity of the gecko, as opposed to one which has only been there for a few weeks.
What are your thoughts?

the reason i like newly caught is that they have less ime in adealers cage. now most dealers are really good but if you ever get a bad one you could lose your whole stock. also if you are really good you can get a newly caught herp and get it aclimized to your way of doing things. i like the idea that it comes from the jungle to your home and if you are good then they will be fine after a little help. i like reading other peoples opion.
I wanted the U. Phantasticus at Frog Day this year from Reptiels Depot it had heavy veining color and a couple bright orange ptachs on it's throat (not mites) I would want to see all of there stock in person but they do have nice animals
Sorry I havent been on in awhile. I have been playing Planet Side
Thoes are some very nice pics!
