I'm currently on vacation in California and found this one on Thursday in Sanata Clara county (Pacific Gopher - first wild herp of the year for me):
I found this yearling on Mount Hamilton yesterday under a piece of bark. It's been cool and windy the past two days - not ideal for finding snakes - but it was nice to find a couple gophers.

Nice Pacifics. You're doing better than me. I've usually found @ least one Gopher by now.
