Baby corn..how long till out of hiding?

yankeeslover Apr 04, 2009 10:28 PM

Hello...just wondering..my little corn had been with us for 3 days now...at this point we still have not seen him/her yet...when I took her home from petco, i put right in the tank, and she went under the aspen bedding...now its day three, and still no site of her....I even get up all hours of the night, and she is still hidden...how long should I give her before I dig her out? How long does it usually take a scared baby to start coming out at night on there own? Now I know that all snakes are different, im just looking for epinions...I dont want to go in and disturb her If I dont have too...I was gonna wait a week, then grab her, and feed her.......thanks much, Pete

they will get more active as they age but overall that is the life of a corn snake.
They hide, wait for food, eat and hide some more.
You could probably go ahead and try to feed it this evening.
Just do like I said. Place it and the pinkie in a small dish and either place that back in the enclosure or on a shelf in a quite place, and leave them there for a couple of hours.
When ytou check on them, afte r a couple of hours, it should have eaten. If not, leave it there for a couple more.
By this time you will know if it is ready to eat for you.
If it doesn't, don't panic. You've got time.
Give it a few more days, undisturbed and try again. Then we can work from there
