insularis question?

jchav02 Apr 06, 2009 10:58 AM

Hey everyone, i am relatively new to the forums and was wondering if anyone has worked with Cryptelytrops insularis (wetar island viper). I had 2 pairs that both bred but soon after my males both died from some sort of neurological issue, symptoms: progressive loss of appetite leading to eventual neck corkscrewing behavior where they soon died after that. Any info would be helpful, thanks!!!

I have a gravid female as we speak. I intially had 2 males that died after being in my care for about 2 months. They didn't show the symptons you described, they were just poor feeder's.
I have an adult pair now.
I beleive they are an insular form of albolabris, scalation is exact as far as I can tell.
Maybe Dr. Wuster will chime in.

Yeah, now i am left without an adult male. Pymx was negative so i am not sure what the deal was. Congrats on your soon to be new additions, i had 2 clutches of 6, 12 total so at least the males got the job done before they died.

could be associated with some form of paramyxovirus. That type of neurological effect is not uncommon for this disease.
