Hello,
I was jsut wondering, how do you guys get a virgin female to breed? Do you guys just let her chose her time like I am doing right now or do something to induce her into breeding? Tips please.
I don't understand. Males breed the females. A female is no match for a worked up male. Just remember that males fertilize eggs. If she is not forming eggs the breeding will be unsuccessful. Males also may sense when a female is ready to be bred.
She is pretty picky. She won't let the male copulate her. So I am just wondering if you guys do something else to get the females into the mood. Unless if she is he, lol. But she is just just running around nodding as if she is submitting to the male, but she will not let the male copulate her. Should I just wait for the following year to see if she is still doing the same? I am thinking that she is probably just not ready.
How old is this female? Were they cooled? Is the male proven? How are they normally housed? How are they housed now?
This female is 15 months old. She has not been cooled down yet due to the fact that I did not want to slow down her growth since she was still growing when winter approach this year. She is being housed with a male right now in a 60 gal. terrarium tank with a ZooMed 5.0 flourescent tube that is 9 inch away and a basking site that is at ~100 degree fahrenheit. The room is around 80-90 degree fahrenheit. She is pooping everyday and eating like crazy everytime that I feed her. She is fed greens (mustard grn., collard grn., yellow squash) daily with dusted crickets, superworms, and other worms when I can get my hands on them.
Also, the male that I put her with is proven and she is normally housed in another 60 gal terrarium tanks until now.
You can try introducing the together in neutral territory (ie sections off part of the living room floor).
