a quick cage post

saagbay Apr 06, 2009 09:48 PM

so i made a big post over on the cage forum and figured i would put a few up here.

it doesnt look like much progress but i got alot done this weekend and im off tomorrow so ill do more then

when you dont have a proper work shop you have to improvise and a tailgate makes for a grea work bench

these pannels are only half finished because the top section will get finished with repti-shield when it is full assembled

untill it got too windy and i had to move inside the stain was drying as fast as i could put it on

the match doesnt look too bad here where i forgot that the lower section show and was supposed to be oak plywood

but then a fey coats of poly and diff lighting only to make a turn for the worse

anyways it doesnt look like much yet but i did get alot done. go check out my other thread if you want a few more details and let me know what ya think

0.1 soon to be wifey (hopefully)
1.0 rotwiler/chow (Boomer-wifey's pooch)
1.0 norm corn (Jake aka grumpy old terdhead)
1.0 col redtail boa (Switch, formally known as Dixie)
0.1 ball python (Bella- wifey's baby girl)
0.1 Brazilian Rainbow Boa (Saphira)

hopeful for not to distant future:
--Brazilian rainbow boas
2 or 3 more? maybe a breeding trio or two pair
-- something for the wifey... my list got to big...

Stephen,
....Nice looking woodwork. Just keep applying poly and sanding between coats until it is water tight. I have cages I built 20 years ago that are not so pretty anymore but are still watertight. The poly has yellowed and darkened. Polyurethane products today are supposed to not yellow like the products that were available back then. Happy Easter.
