I noticed my red group jungle has a slight red tint in his eyes. I’ve only noticed this on hypos before.

Have you seen this before in red group animals or in jungles? The mother of the boa in question was a hypo, perhaps that had something to do with it? Or is it just part of the normal color variation we see in boas and not tied to any specific morph?

Some pics I was taking of him, with flash so of course the red hardly shows up...

Thanks in advance for sharing your opinion!

He looks good! I think its part of the normal variation, although I do see more 'red' eyes in hypos and its always hard to capture in pics!

There has been some discussion I believe that Jungles tend to
have this reddish color especially in the upper eye area.
I can't confirm I only have my one Jungle to look at in person
He definitely has that reddish tint and color in his eyes.
Hopefully in a couple weeks I'll have several more to look at,LOL

April,

I believe it is tied to the jungle gene. All of the jungles and hypo jungles in that litter had red eyes, where the non jungles didn't. It does fade with age. You also really see this in the super jungles.

very neat! I don't know why I didn't notice it before, I guess I was always just distracted by his beautiful tail.

I'm so glad to have this guy here, you sure do produce some gorgeous critters out there in the 'boonies' Matt!

have a great night,

He's a nice looking Jungle!

Jungles will often have a red tint to their eyes, sometimes more than a tint, especially the supers.
