Blood is the common name for the red short-tailed python from Malaysia. Care is the same for all species.

Here is the break down with photos.

Borneos - Borneo Blood Python, Boreno Short Tailed Python. Python breitensteini Native to the island of Borneo in Indo. There is a possible second species, but currently referred to as a locality instead called the Sarawak Locality. Rich Crowley called these the mud bloods, I call them Chocolates. The Sarawaks tend to be darker in coloration with a more chocolate coloration. Normal Borneos tend to be more of a lighter brown coloration with wonderful peaches and pink highlights often found along the face.
Borneo

Sarawak Locality

Blood Python - Red Blood, Malaysian Short Tail. Python brongersmai. These are the red snakes that people see. They come in a varieties of colors and are the most popular of the short tails with the most color morphs available. Native to sumatra and malaysia. Normal colors vary between brown, red, and yellow. Red is the most popular coloration available.

Black Blood - The Black Blood Python, Sumatran Blood Python. Python Curtus. These are once again less common. While most will be a black colored snake, you can occasionally get a brownish black coloration. These guys are most often found in Malaysia. They also tend to be slightly smaller as adults than the previous species.

You have a good breakdown of the short-tail and blood group, but with one small exception. P. curtus is only found in southern and western Sumatra. I don't believe any specimens have ever been located in Malaysia. Good photo record you posted as well. Thanks,

Kelly
