Dimpled Eggs?

jason Apr 09, 2009 05:46 PM

My first clutch of the year is currently on day 13 of incubation. I checked on the clutch today and noticed that two of the eggs had a dimple in them. I candled all the eggs and they all appear healthy, and I upped the humidity some. Has anyone had eggs that dimple early on like this and still hatch?

Hi, I had a female lay 4 eggs last year and after the first week they all dimpled in almost half way. I thought they were all going to die, but they were all alive from week to week and finally after 56 days at 89 degrees they all hatched out and are getting big today!!! Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!!! That yes, I have had eggs dimple really early on in the incubation process, I think it will be far more beneficial to you to explain why your eggs are dimpling so early. Firstly, ball python eggs general begin to dimple close to two weeks before hatching as the shell becomes more "leathery" and the babies inside begin to absorb small amounts of the yolk. It is never a good sign to have eggs dimple before that. The reason they are dimpling so early is that the humidity is too low. You need to increase the humidity now and your eggs should "puff" back out. Try to get your humidity levels over 90%.
Good luck.

Jason:

Read the thread just above yours written by "FGS". It was written by me in response to the above post. I hope my recommendation will help you also.

Good luck
