Shes walking on her foot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RedQuake Sep 12, 2003 11:05 AM

WOOHOO, the hypo female (i think i'm going to name her Dot from A Bugs Life cause of a large spot she has on her back) is walking better today!!!

Her toes are all open and her foot is resting flat on the ground and i just saw her take a few steps (retreating into her hide away from me staring at her hehehe) and she was walking on the foot. I'm soooooooooooooooooo happy.

Ok so that leaves just the patternless to name.....

As for pics.......i'm going to have to hold off for a while. My finances have gotten a bit tight (i hate banks!) and what $ i do have is going to gas and a supply of crickets, waxworms, silkworms and some more mealworms (my colony still isn't that large yet).

Can i include silkworms in a staple diet??? Meaning put a few silkworms in with the mealworms at each feeding? I really want to make sure they are getting enough calcium and buff them up good too.

Thanks
Red

Silkworms are good but you have ot remember that they only eat mulberry leaves so before you decide to buy any make sure you have a tree somwhere that you know of so u can get leaves when you need them. My boyfriends house has a lot of them across the street but rather than pciking them every other night I found its easier to get a small branch brig it home.. wash the leaves then put them in ziploc bags in the fridge... they stay longer that way.

Thankyou, i didn't know that. Guess i should do some research on the bugs i'm buying eh?!? hehehe

They are pretty expensive so i might just buy enough to feed in one day instead of a large lot of them. I don't know if there are mullberry trees around here.....i'll have to check that out

Thanks again.

You can buy silkworm chow which they will eat. Though the chow is kinda expensive too but then again it probably lasts pretty long. My leo LOVES silkies, i wish i could give them to her more often but I'm only 13 and dont have that kinda money. Its expensive, but they make a GREAT staple, very high in calcium and nutrients, low in fat, dont need to hold back on the silkies. If you want a worm that'll put good weight on a leo but isnt so dang expensive, get some supers. Most like them and they're high in protein. hope this helps

Hmmmmmmmmm cool, silkworm chow. I'm going to look for that hehehe. I'm glad that they are a good staple. I really want all of these guys as huge as Boo and bigger hehehe. I'll have to get some comparison pics of Boo and one of the newbies. I'm kinda scared though.....i've never seen a 2month old leo before and i'm worried that i'll get feedback saying they are younger. The male blizzard Bronx is the youngest. I'll post the pic that the breeder sent me (i hope thats Ok to do).

Thanks for the info
