That sounds like a really good two generation project! Keep us informed as to how it goes will ya?

guyergenetics Apr 10, 2009 08:21 AM

I haven't even started putting them together yet. I know that this is going to sound crazy to some but I've found out that the later I wait in the season, the better hatch rates I get.

I'm going to start putting them together next week, and that's still 2 weeks earlier than I did last year.

I'll tell you guys what though, I've been seeing so many pics of snakes locking up lately here and on other forums that I am chompng at the bit and foaming at the mouth to get started!! I have seriously had trouble sleeping just thinking about this season! I'm really excited and very optimistic. I've done well every year before and I hope to only improve this year.

I hope that we ALL kick butt this year!

hey, don't give up on the egg that has the window. I had an egg that was totally 100% window. It made it well over half way through incubation, had great veins and everything. I have no doubt that the snake would have hatched had I not dropped it while trying to take a picture of it. The veins were dead, gone the next day. I was soooo mad at myself!

As for having eggs, I brumated a month longer than normal, so I will be behind everyone. I did buy a couple adult corns from someone who had them paired up. One laid eggs 4-3 and another about to drop this week. Other than that, my snakes wont have a clutch for another 1 to 1.5 months or so.
Best of luck on your clutches!

I have a little over 40 clutches so far (2 clutches per container in the pic), and about 20-30 more females that are getting ready to lay.
The first Corns should start hatching in 2 weeks.

Very nice. Do you put the clutches in the same container that wont hatch near the same time? I'd be afraid that if they were close in date, that I wouldn't know which baby came from which egg.

I put eggs together that are gonna hatch at least 12 apart, or that I can easily tell apart like Caramel x Caramel with a clutch of Creamsicles.

>>Just had my last two planned pairs hook up last night (yep the second pair of emoryis het albino hooked up)
The first eggs, here, should start dropping around the 20th and from there through the middle of May.
I'm about on the same schedule as last season.

I have a clutch of 13 from a Lava het anery bred to a Ghost. Expecting my Intermontane female to lay any day as well as my female corn from my locality in South Carolina. The Lave het Anery also bred with an Ultramel het Anery, and she is in shed now.

guyergenetics Apr 11, 2009 08:34 AM

What's an Intermontane?

Godfrey Apr 12, 2009 10:54 AM

It's an Emory's from a small region in Utah and Colorado.
